500 days to the 2023 Solheim Cup: The dream is a little closer

The countdown to the most important women’s golf competition coming to Spain for the first time has reached an emblematic figure, but the promotional events for the tournament will continue to follow one after another.

The pages of the calendar are turning and indicate that there are 500 days left for the 2023 Solheim Cup to be played at Finca Cortesín, in Málagala Costa del Sol, which will be the first time that this tournament is held in Spain.

Specifically, it will be in the week of 18 to 24 September 2023, when the greatest show of women’s professional golf will land in Andalusia, specifically in the Costa del Sol, in the municipality of Casares, where the magnificent course designed by Cabell B. Robinson is located.

But before that, the events and acts of promotion of the Solheim Cup 2023 are taking place all over Spain and will continue to happen with the help of organizations, institutions, federations and, of course, the invaluable work of more than a hundred volunteers.

Thanks to all this incessant activity developed around the Solheim Cup 2023, with especially symbolic moments such as when the trophy of this tournament was received in the Congress of Deputies by its president, Meritxell Batet, and the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, this competition is going beyond the field of golf and is reaching the whole of Spanish society.

“For Deporte & Bussiness, being 500 days away from the celebration of the Solheim Cup 2023 represents one more step in the achievement of a dream, which is none other than that this great tournament will be played for the first time in Spain,” said Alicia Garrido, president of the company that organizes the event.

“Likewise, this round figure allows us to take a small pause to check everything we have achieved so far and gain momentum to continue organizing actions that make the Solheim Cup a well-known and recognized event in our country,” she continued.

“I want to thank all the organizations and people who are helping us in this task and I am convinced that we are on the right track to make the Solheim Cup 2023 the best edition in history,” she concluded.

After these 500 days have passed, the events to promote the Solheim Cup will continue, with one date especially marked on the calendar: September 18 of this year. That day will be exactly one year before the celebration of the Solheim Cup 2023 and will be the perfect time to celebrate another stage before reaching the finish line: the “One year to go”, an event that is already being planned and that will take place over several days between the towns of Casares, Marbella and Benahavis.

The Solheim Cup 2023, an event of exceptional public interest whose official venue is Finca Cortesín, is sponsored by PING, Costa del Sol and Rolex as global partners; and by the Ministry of Tourism of the Andalusian Regional Government, Acosol, the Marbella Town Hall and the Benahavís Town Hall as official partners, and Reale Seguros as official sponsor. Solán de Cabras, Eversheds Sutherland, Casares Town Hall, Toro and Vithas are official suppliers. Marca and Radio Marca are official media. LET, LPGA, RFEG, CSD, RFGA and Deporte & Business collaborate in its organization.
