Allisen Corpuz makes history at the U.S. Womens Open and rises to third place in the LPGA ranking

England’s Charley Hull and Sweden’s Maja Stark, second and ninth position respectively, were the best European golfers in the big event at Pebble Beach, followed by Carlota Ciganda, who finished in 20th position

Allisen Corpuz has broken all records by opening her professional record with a victory in a Grand Slam tournament, specifically in the US Womens Open, played in the emblematic Californian course of Pebble Beach.

The American golfer of Hawaiian origin has only been in the LPGA for two seasons and with this triumph she assures her presence in the 2023 Solheim Cup to be played from September 18th to 24th at Finca Cortesín, in the province of Malaga, as she is in third position in the LPGA ranking, from which seven players will form the US team. This list is still headed by Nelly Korda, closely followed by Lilia Vu.

Likewise, in the world ranking, which will grant two places for the Stars and Stripes team, Rose Zhang has risen to second place, just one tenth behind Ally Ewing after her ninth place in California.

Good performance by European players

The US Womens Open is not usually a particularly favorable major for European players, and that´s why is worth mentioning Charley Hull´s second place, three strokes behind the winner, as well as the ninth place of Maja Stark, a position that has allowed her to overtake her compatriot Linn Grant in the LET classification to integrate the European team for the next Solheim Cup. Carlota Ciganda, twentieth place, was the third best European at Pebble Beach, which strengthens her place in the world rankings. This will result in six places for the European team and has come to dominate the Irish player Leona Maguire, followed by Celine Boutier, Georgia Hall, Charley Hull, the aforementioned Carlota Ciganda and Anna Nordqvist.
