Ana Peláez strengthens her chances of playing in the Solheim Cup 2023

The spanish golfer has taken a step closer to defend Europe from 18th to 24th September at Finca Cortesin, after her second place in the Helsingborg Open

Ana Peláez is getting closer to her second victory on the Ladies European Tour and to fulfilling her dream of playing in the next Solheim Cup, which will take place in her homeland, Malaga, next September.

On this occasion, it has been in the Helsingborg Open held in Sweden, where the Andalusian player has harvested a new second place and that makes the third one so far this season.

Ana Peláez kept her chances of victory until the last holes and finally was just one stroke behind the winner, the Swedish Lisa Pettersson, who finished the tournament with a magnificent eagle on the last hole.

With this position, Ana Peláez not only maintains the fourth place in the LET ranking for the Solheim Cup, which is still led by the Swedish Linn Grant and Maja Stark, but also gets closer to the third place, currently occupied by Carlota Ciganda.

As for the world ranking, which gives six places for the European team for the Solheim Cup, it continues to be dominated by Georgia Hall, closely followed by Celine Boutier, and completed by Leona Maguire, Charley Hull, Madelene Sagstrom and Carlota Ciganda.

Rose Zhang’s historic LPGA win

As far as the LPGA is concerned, all the headlines went to Rose Zhang, as the young American broke all records by winning her first tournament as a professional.

After a superb amateur career, Rose Zhang entered the Mizuho Americas Open on an invitation and had no better debut: her first LPGA win and a tour card.

With this brilliant debut in women’s professional golf, it would not be surprising if Rose Zhang was part of the US team for the 2023 Solheim Cup. For the moment, Allisen Corpuz remains at the top of the world ranking, closely followed by Jessica Korda, while the LPGA ranking continues to be led by Nelly Korda, ahead of Lilia Vu.
