The Malaga telco has reached an agreement with the organization of the event to provide internet connection throughout the course and the link of the screens to the TV fiber network from September 18th to 24th at Finca Cortesín
The Solheim Cup 2023 has a new connectivity partner, the Malaga telco Olin, a benchmark in its sector on Costa del Sol, which will also have the status of official supplier of the event.
With this agreement, Olin will be responsible for providing internet connection throughout the championship course, covering all organizational needs, and will link all the screens that will be all over the field to the TV fiber network to broadcast the live signal.
Agustin Izzo Diaz, CEO of Olin, thanked “the confidence that the organization of the Solheim Cup has placed in our company to provide connectivity and internet services during the event. We have made a strong technological commitment in order to provide the best possible service, with two independent and dedicated fibers redundantly ensuring the service and its quality”.
“In total, we will deploy more than 25 kilometers of fiber optic network, bringing connectivity to all the stands, common areas, TV broadcasting screens, information boards that will be distributed throughout the golf course, providing services to all these points combining fiber optic and WIFI network. In addition, more than 35 different access points will be installed. We think we will be able to provide high-speed connectivity capacity simultaneously to 6,000 users”, he explained.
Alicia Garrido, executive director of Sport & Business, was equally satisfied with the agreement, and emphasized “the importance of having local companies to achieve the goal of making the 2023 Solheim Cup the most sustainable edition in history” and highlighted “Olin’s experience in hosting sporting events and its commitment to women’s golf”.
And to ensure that everything is ready for the week of September 18-24, installation work has already begun at Finca Cortesín, something simple for a company that has deployed more than 5,000 km of fiber optic throughout the coast, offering its service to more than 60,000 customers and providing high-speed fiber optic access to more than 900,000 homes.
