PJSC foursomes finish 3-3

The PING Junior Solheim Cup opened with a thrilling foursomes session on Tuesday morning, which ended 3-3 to leave the match finely poised.

Scotland’s own Hannah Darling and England’s Annabell Fuller put Europe’s first point on the board with a 4&3 win over Sadie Englemann and Lucy Li. There were also victories by the same margin for English pair Mimi Rhodes and Lily May Humphreys over Amanda Sambach and Alex Pano, and for Benedetta Moresco and Lucie Malchirand against Zoe Campos and Rose Zhang.

In reply, Team USA’s Michaela Morard and Rachel Heck edged a close match 1 up against Pia Babnik and Alessia Nobilio, before Brianna Navarrosa and Briana Chacon beat Lilias Pinthier and Paula Schulz-Hanssen by the same score.

In the fifth match, Americans Phoebe Brinker and Christine Wang saw off Danish duo Anne Normann and Amalie Leth-Nissen 4&3.

The afternoon fourballs begin at 1pm on Tuesday, with 12 singles matches to follow on Wednesday.
