On the 13th of October 2020, we were delighted to receive confirmation from the Ladies European Tour that we had been appointed host of the 2023 Solheim Cup – the greatest golf event that will be held in Spain in twenty-five years.
We are enormously proud to be chosen to host an event of the magnitude of the Solheim Cup and now have the immense responsibility of bringing such an exceptional event to a successful conclusion.
We are proud to participate in writing a new page in the history of golf in Spain, probably the most important of women’s golf history, which we are very fond of and have been supporting for over five years by sponsoring new professional players.
We are also proud of an election that consolidates the good work done over the years. We have earned international recognition for having created a resort model based on quality, sustainability and sound business practices, assets with which we try to actively contribute to the social, economic and environmental improvement of the environment in which we operate.
With the confirmation of our appointment as host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, brings our excitement to be the image of the Costa del Sol or Costa del Golf, which will be projected to the whole world.
We feel ready to face this challenge along with the rest of the institutions and people involved. We plan to approach it from our experience in preparing three editions of the Volvo World Match Play Championship and our commitment to pursuing excellence in all the fields, which has led us to be pioneers in sustainability in the golf sector. In this respect, we have adapted our facilities to include reclaimed water through the change to more suitable species of grasses and with less consumption of water resources so scarce in our Andalusia.
The Solheim Cup is a sought-after event, which we are delighted to host because it enshrines a set of values we share: effort, achievement, perseverance, respect, equality and sustainability.
We have two and a half years of hard work ahead of us to implement improvements and where new developments will emerge that we will be unveiling in due course.
At Finca Cortesín, we will do our utmost to ensure that the Solheim Cup 2023 is a success and confirms the expectations generated in terms of its media and economic impact and establishes itself as the driving force that will help us position the Costa del Sol as the number one quality destination in our area.
